the decompression valve on top of the cylinder-head, releasing
the combustion chamber compression, making the Solex
easier to pedal/push when starting. It is also used to stop the
engine; when the compression is released, the engine stops.

4600 V1 Year of Manufacture

The year of manufacture is determined using the seven-digit engine serial number that is stamped into the crankcase:

Engine Number                                 Year

713xxxx - 714xxxx                                1973

715xxxx - 722xxxx                                1974

90xxxxx                                                1977

Watch this video for help in locating the engine serial number:

https://rumble.com/vdca93-how-to-locate-velosolex-solex-frame-and-engine-serial-numbers.html

* The "14-3-1966" date that is cast into the crankcase is the date of approval of the Cyclomoteur 3800 engine, not the date of manufacture.

* The "CYCLOMOTEUR 3800" that is cast into the crankcase above the fuel pump is the engine type, not the model type.

* The CYCLOMOTEUR 3800 engine was used on the models S 3800, 4600, 5000 and Micron i.e. there was no CYCLOMOTEUR 4600 engine.
